GoPro Data overlay problems.

So I've got a Gopro Hero 5 Black and started recording my rides using the image stabilisation on 1080p, wide angle view at 48fps.
This records the rides perfectly but the problem occurs when I edit the clips on the GoPro app. If I put the speed overlay on it works fine while watching the clip and is the same as it was when I recorded it and on Strava but as soon as I save/ upload the clip the speed drops by about 8mph.
I have tried using Garmin Virb editing software and importing the GPX file from Strava and the same thing happens.
Any ideas why?

The older I get, the better I was.
I calibrated my widget to eleventy seven resolution and it now goes like the clappers on Betelgeuse concentrate giving a max calibration efficiency +/- 0.0034587% commensurate with a hybrid 917 tribute, calculated to raise a fever pitch which only Strad himself would appreciate.
...and the wife is happy too.
