Edge 820 custom data fields

Ok - new 820 arrived (at the £141 price available tail end of last week) - it's replacing my aging, but still working 800.
So, new toy - I could just configure the same data fields I used on my 800, but where's the fun in that ...
Suggestions then, please - with the IQ connect store - any particular datafields/widgets that you've found useful whilst riding? Or are the pretty much all superfluous and I'd be best to stick to inbuilt fields?
One thing I did notice - 30 minute ride in this morning - 12% battery drain - er ... possibly because the backlight seemed to be on a lot, possibly because I've loaded a load of IQ datafields and got them all on one activity profile ... just testing

Yeah, custom datafields are a pretty sure way to reduce battery life.
With that said... What's my ftp is pretty neat - https://apps.garmin.com/en-IE/apps/a947 ... 57fc369dbb
(presuming you have a power meter! - if you do, and you sign up to Xert they have lots of other clever datafields).0 -
ok, so I need to get a USB powerpack embeded into my stem ...
I do have a powermeter, but not on my everyday bike - I reserve that for my TT or summer road bike ... so I'll be looking for a sensible display for TT mode too.0 -
Just got an 820 to replace and 800 too. Factory settings had the backlight on constantly, switching this off helped a lot with battery life! I think on longer rides I'll probably switch off the bluetooth too and rely on the ANT+ connectivity to sensors.0

yup - I've just ditched the backlight too - I liked the 800 method of click the powerbutton and turn brightness up/down ...
sadly, in the pursuit of a clever interface, they've muddled the waters somewhat.
I was trying to turn off one of the data screens - click settings/activity profile/data screen/screen3 - enabled off - tick tick - still enabled ... hmm ... ok - it's a small flick switch - could be me miss hitting - tried several times - nope - could be the custom data field - nope ... ah - ok, you edit the screen, enabled off then click the cross !! how bluddy stupid - every other setting you press the tick to save ...0 -
The only one I've got is the FTP estimator - it's pretty good. Other than that, I generally only have two fields visible on the main screen.0

max HR is missing on the 820 (why?) so used IQ to get it, looks no different to original fields.Colnago Addict!0

I usae My Edge from the IQ store and have Battery Save Mode turned on which gives me 4 days riding on one charge.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
