Thanks really chuffed with it, an no, they wouldn't something about people driving EV vehicles round it of some nonsense.

Chopped the steerer down bunged the guitar pic like top cap on which is weird but looks alright, still may get a custom one made up.
Also think I've worked out what was going on with the chain, the replacement outer chainring seems to be wider after the teeth, so if your in the higher gears on the small ring, the chain is rubbing and skipping on the inside edge of the outer ring. Old rings are OK for now so ill have to do some reading up on them as it is a bit odd.

Pretty much finished now, I'll get some proper photos at some point

Swapped out the bars for some Deda Superzero's to match the stem. Also had to replace the seatpost which slipped an ended up with a gouge out of it, had damage the inner so thought it safer to bin it off. Again Deda Superzero. New tape for new bars Cinelli Mike Giant not everyones taste but I like it.

Always seems to be cloudy when I take photos, white garage doors not helping

Haha, its mine! tempted to see if I can strip the gold from them to be honest. I have loads of them spare so I may submerge some in some coke (non sniffy) see if it just dissolves or not.

true - give it a go and see what happens - if you have some spare, nothing to lose. not sure what Coke will do to the inners though - may be worth taping up either end.

then give the bike to me anyway

    Very nice scaffold.

Not sure if I like the gold outers though, and their routing is a bit weird. The 'office' view makes them look too short, whereas the 'le slam' view looks more normal.

I also usually don't like printed tape (I don't like supacapz) but yours is ace.

What are you going to do with the braze ons for gear cables?

I get what you mean on the cable length, the front I have shortened already as after the bar change it had such a loop on it it hooked past the headtube an back. Rear is long enough to roll the bar round to the frame an not cause issues. I might see about some clips of some sort to see if I can lift the cables a bit, It would be OK if the tape went all along the bar, or if the bars had internal routing but annoyingly theres just a very shallow groove underneath.

Cables I have an ongoing experiment see if I can lift the anodising off without pitting the metal, if not I may have to see about some black ones. They are a bit odd as you have the outer links you can see then an inner liner cable.

To be honest the adaptors don't really bother me, I may see at some point about having them removed. It should just be a case of grind them off them scotch brite pad to re surface it (thats what they recommend to get the brushed finish back)

I have clear transfers that stop the cables rubbing on the head tube.
Maybe that's a prettier option than the grey plastic thingies you have on them.
Then you can cut the cables to length and stick the clear sticky stickers where you want.

Not a bad idea, I know the type you mean so may be worth looking into to tidy up that area. Cable length from memory is OK, basically the rear brake you can slick the bars right round both ways an it doesn't go taught.

The coke experiment appears to have worked, not so much silver more a dull grey but no pitting so its been cleaned an dried going to leave it a few days to see if it reacts to anything, if not ill chuck a load in.

Also pro tip, dont use coke in a sonic bath!

@step83 Does it look like 25mm is the max tyre you'd get on it? Is the rear brake bridge likely to be the limiting factor for height rather than the chainstay width? Am tempted myself later in the summer but after riding my gravel bike on 28s I quite fancy trying the fatter tyre but didn't really want to go to the disc version (Hurricane?).

    PX say 27mm.

But that's a really odd size. I know tyres measure up differently and are affected by rim width, hence the question.

Well, its going to depends on your tyre/rim combo, I'm currently running Vittoria Corsa G's in 28mm with no issues at all but thats on a 17mm ID rim, on mine they come up as 27mm. When I go out there probably tomorrow now I'll get it down an get some photos of clearance

Must admit I'm looking at the Hurricane as a potential winter bike. Full mudguards and 30mm tyres ? What's not to love.

Forgot about this, 30's would be a squeeze, 28's are close Hurricane should have more space though.

Gratuitous photo, new chainrings on, light on the back is my Varia

Thanks for the reply. Yes might be the Hurricane on the list.
I'm a luddite with discs but curious to see what they're like. Can't be worse than cantilever brakes !
