I only went to have a look in Halfords at the Bizango as they have the 20% off deal. Young lad pointed out the EOL Boardman that was on sale after I asked what small size bikes they had I could swing a leg over.

Bike was up for £1300 down from £1600. I bought a £5 helmet and traded in to get the 20% off plus the bike was a little cheaper on the system so final price was £960 with some £35 boardman flats thrown in.

I only had £600 to spend but they said they would take a deposit and let me pay the rest later. So put £560 down and will pay the rest on collection in a few weeks.

I know the bike is a couple of years old but still pretty decent gear attached to it. Pike, Monarch R, Guide 4's, Sram GX 1x11.

My first bike in a while can't wait!

I'd say that is an excellent buy.
It got very good reviews when it came out.

I see you have one as well, any pointers/things to look out for a new owner?

Had one, mine was totalled in a crash, although it stood up amazingly well do a car ploughing into it at quite a speed!

The only thing to watch is the rear triangle. They did modify it but can't see in your picture if it's the new 'design'. It has a habit of snapping when landing jumps just in front of the brake mount.

People moan about the oem gear hanger too, but just buy a spare from betd and replace should it break. FYI, it's designed to break, but some think a little too easily, I never had an issue.

Other than those things, just ride it and replace things you think need replacing. I changed the front tyre too, but see what you think. It's a great entry level bike.

Wow, hope you weren't to badly hurt

It will be a while before I will be putting the frame in danger of cracking. I'll just ride it and see how I get on. Thanks again!

It was on the back of my car. Could have been worse but I wouldn't like to go through it again. We all walked away, three cars written off though! Still, it meant I could upgrade the bike! ;) The Pro FS is a great bike, especially for the money you paid, you'll have a blast. :)

Collected the bike today. Must say, great service from Sam and Oli in Hedge End Halfords.

I said I would pick the bike up in a few weeks so surprised them a bit when I turned up to pay the balance and take the bike(I did try and call but it was like the line was dead?). PDI wasn't done but Sam jumped straight on it, did all the checks and set sag for me. Very happy with the service I received, answered all the silly questions I had.

Came home, off with the reflectors and bell moved the brake levers and shifter to suit then rode the local canal paths.

I didn't know Sram shifters where push/push to change gear, I like it! Gear changes crisp and fast.

Brakes seem fine with a progressive type feel, see how they are on trail. I like the reach adjust as well.

Suspension I can't really say much as what I rode was flat but I am sure once on trails I will get a feel for it and adjust as needed. Feels nice when I bounce on it tho

I was a little unsure on the paint before but it is actually a really nice colour and pops in the sun.
Overall very happy with my purchase and cannot wait to hit some trails.

Now need to build a shopping list for helmet, gloves, maintenance items, special tools etc...

I asked Sam if it was the updated frame and he confirmed it is, even showed me an older version that he had in for a service. The rear shock is also different RT Debonair.
