Sora FC-R3030 Crankset
1. Is the Sora FC-R3030 Crankset Hollowtech II?
Shimano factsheet says Octalink: https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/ ... R3030.html
...but it looks to my untrained eye like an integrated axle, ie. Hollowtech.
The retailer's website ("Fact Sheet") just says "Integrated Axle" with no mention of Hollowtech as they do for the higher level Shimano cranksets: https://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8; ... 29;page=19
2. Would this 9 Speed crankset work OK with an 8 speed cassette/shifters/etc?
Thanks.

To answer your Q1 - yes it is a Hollowtech II design with the integrated spindle on the driveside crank arm
As for Q2 - yes you will be fine running a 9-speed chainset with 8 speed cassette/shifters0 -
