Shimano Tourney 7 speed shifter indicator lens

Lost the left hand side lens after a small incident. I know Shimano dont make available as a replacement part. Anyone got a solution other than buying complete shifter?

    Do you actually need / use it? I've old 9 speed Tiagra on my winter bike and never pay any attention to them.

    If you can live without the indicator just trim off the broken bits and patch up the hole somehow?

    Failing that, a new shifter would appear the only solution. £12 from Wiggle

    Or are we talking about road style shifters? Plenty of them on Ebay
