Jockey wheel size

Hi,
My current bike has two black coloured 13t jockey wheels on the derailleur.

Purely for aesthetic reasons, I would like to swap them out for red ones. The problem is that there are not a lot of red 13t jockeys wheels, they seem to be mainly 11t.

Will this cause problems if I swap 13t for 11t?

Thank you all in advance.

The gap between the jockey 11t wheel and the derailleur frame will be bigger. You may get some jamming as a consequence. The 11t will wear out faster, merely because fewer teeth are doing the same job. The strand of chain that runs between the two jockey wheels will be at a different angle and as a consequence, the chain may rub on part of the derailleur frame. This may be a silent rubbing or a noisy rattling.

I can't think of anything else. Why not go for it, but let us know how you get on.

PS: Even if I had day-glo orange jockey wheels, they would still look black after the first few miles.

Loads on eBay. God knows what they'll be like though.

Buy black Shimano ones from CRC and get a two year warranty.

Hi, the bike has a Shimano tourney derailleur.
It’s all good now though, as I purchased some red ceramic 13t jockey wheels :D

Thank you everyone for all your help.

Ha ha, I’m not a hardcore cyclist, I just ride to work and back.
Will probably get a better derailleur in the future anyway :)
