Ok . so I am a tight Yorkshire man.
I need anew chainset .
At the moment . on all my bikes I use 175.5 cranks 50x34 . I have seen a 52 x 36 175 for £65 on probike kit. Dare i go for this option . will I notice much difference . ? I do live in a hilly area and do a fair bit of climbing. (Rosedale chimney bank is not far away !!)
Thanks in anticipation of your

Do you mean 172.5?
Also, what is wrong with your current chainset?
The gearing difference is self-evident, but only you can decide whether you will be able to cope with it or not. The difference in crank length is negligible.0 -
Don't use that bike for the really steep climbs ?0

Chuck your current setup into https://www.sheldonbrown.com/gear-calc.html and then change the chainrings to 36/52 to see the gear inches difference.
Purely going on https://www.strava.com/segments/6690945 , I'd want 34/50 chainrings and my new 11-34 for the ~23% section.
11-speed setup?
Shimano drivetrain?
If so, cheapest 34/50 option I'm aware of is https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-fc ... 09014.html (£60 before using any reward points).================

Thanks for the replies
Yes I mean 172.5 .
It is shirmao 10 speed 28 rear mech .
I am replacing the origonal fsa chainset that has gone onto my winter bike.
It is the 34x 28 ratio as opposed to the 36 x 28 that concerns me .
Think I will stick with the 34x28 and look for another chainset
Have my eye one on e bay .used but looks.ok.
Is their a big difference in the shirmano one fro merlin as oppsed to the 105 version ?
Thanks again

OK I'd assume that you will need a bottom bracket also to go with your new chainset - assuming you took the BB out of your current bike to use on your winter bike.
If you go for the Merlin one, you will need to also fit a BB. To do this you need to understand what BB your bike requires - is it BSA (threaded), Italian (also threaded) or a press fit type (BB30, PF30, BB92 etc.). You can look online to see the specs of your bike - the BB type is probably going to be listed there.
If you don't need a BB to fit to your bike, then please advise what BB is currently in the bike that you now need the chainset for. If you don't want to change the BB out then this will determine what chainset you can use.

You're saying you don't know if SRAM make a compatible BB for one of their own chainsets?0 -

I haven't noticed it mentioned earlier but you do need to check if the SRAM red chainset is BB30 or GPX.
GPX will fit with a GPX BB and BB30 won't fit.0 -
