Dry lube on wet lube?

Had my bike serviced & the guy put wet lube on my chain, I normally use dry lube as I'm a fair weather rider.

My question is can I put dry lube on a chain that has had wet lube on it, without cleaning it first?

I tend to put lube on every few weeks or so & CBA properly cleaning the wet lube off the chain.

Thanks

  • you can put it on top but all youll end up with is a gunky black mess however the solution is simple. ride it for a few months, wiping the chain occaisionaly to remove any black stuff. When it starts squeaking start using dry lube.

This is the answer I was hoping to hear, cheers!

Switch to wet lube - your chains will thank you for it.

Was just listening to a podcast in which they stated that dry lube is removed after 20-30 minutes of cycling, they recommended wet or wax lube.

Note: the dry/wet is in reference to the structure of the lube, not the riding conditions it's recommended for.

Not sure that came across entirely as you intended?
