Help identifying a bicycle please!

Hello,
I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on an old bicycle I have, I literally know nothing about the bike.
I was given it over ten years ago by an elderly neighbour and decided to completely restore it, repainted it myself and put new brake cables and levers and tyres and wheels etc. I'm sure there are a few people that will say I ruined the bike but I had fun doing it and I think it looks lovely and I've certainly enjoyed using it on and off over the years.
If anyone can help tell me what it is I'd be very grateful!
There is what I think to be a frame number on the side of the frame;
"DS80" and below it
"106926"
Thanks in advance for any info!

    Could literally be anything - and without any other provenance for the frame, you will probably never ever know for sure. Lug work looks fairly ordinary, but without any other historical info (ie pre paintjob) everybody is just guessing...
  • I thought that might be the case. I'm a mtb man I know nothing about road bikes! The old boy who gave it to me had already painted it blue so there was no make or model on it when I got it.
    Thank you for your help regardless!
