Hiya from NZ, Help with Rear Brakes on 96 Marin Pallisades

Hi, I'm new to the site, and I wasn't too sure where to post this. As the Marin Palisades is a Mountain Bike, I thought I would start here.

I'm turning a 1996 Marin Palisades into a single speed fixie, primarily to help get a bad knee a bit of a good work out. So far its been a bit of a costly exercise. It all started when I got a frame in great condition from a ex bike mechanic who had had it in storage since the 90's. All good there, new steel forks from Australia, a new rear shimano wheel locally here in NZ, and other bits and pieces from my preferred supplier CRC and the seat, bullhorn bar etc from China.... all good. The wheels going on are 700c, with 25c Schwabe Marathons.

My problem is the V brakes on the rear, I have never used or fitted them before. My road bike has Shimano Tiagra calipers and my Mountain bike are hydraulic disc fitted. Anyhow I got a set of Shimanos, but when I went to fit them, the pads came no where near the wheel rim, obviously too small, can anyone give me an idea of what size the rear brakes should be for this frame.

Hope someone has this knowledge, or is a whiz with V brakes, and thanks in advance.

You're running the wrong size wheels.
The Marin was designed around 26" wheels and the brake bosses are positioned accordingly.

Thanks.... Yep I know there should be a 26 (650c) wheel there, I'm really looking at suggestions or ideas.,

Does this thread offer any help? Suggestions of some Mavic Conti adaptors which might do the job for you?

Or this discontinued product would also have fitted the bill I think:-

Thanks Larkin, Yep, I inadvertently got one from Aliexpress... thinking it was just a cover to protect the brakes.... just came as a blank horseshoe no threaded adaptors or anything, so lots of ????? going on here. Thanks for the link!
