Have a basic question: will my 2017 Trek Fuel EX 8 ( https://archive.trekbikes.com/nz/en/201 ... 29/details ) take a Sram GX Eagle Dub 12 speed Groepset? ( https://www.mantel.com/be/sram-gx-eagle-dub-groepset )
Kind of guessing it will as the 2019 models come with it stock.
Any gotchas from forum users who already have done this? Thanks in advance. (The bike currenty has a 2X9 speed cassette.)

Nope. You need the NX. The XT cassette you currently has goes down to an 11tooth cog. The 10tooth on the GX Eagle needs a different free hub. The NX Eagle goes down to an 11tooth, so that should fit.Daddy, Husband, Designer, Biker, Gamer, Geek

As already said not unless you can change the freehub on your rear wheel to the xd driver.
Another option is to buy a sunrace 12speed cassette that will fit on your rear wheel and then use the eagle gx rear derailleur?0 -
Cheers guys, just checked with my local bikeshop and they're telling me the same, I'd need a new wheelset too which unfortunately would make it too expensive an upgrade. For now staying on the 2X9. Thanks for the feedback!0

well if you buy the sunrace 12 speed or the sram NX cassette, you can run 12speed on your current rear wheel.
So you will save money there?0 -
Just go NX. Very little difference between that and GX.Daddy, Husband, Designer, Biker, Gamer, Geek
