He was a dick and deserved punishment.
But if you do it in a car you're fine.

Oh the "Us and them" argument again. So one driver isn't prosecuted means that dickhead shouldn't be prosecuted either. :roll:I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -

I'll second the above, in that I'm pretty sure that the implication of that post is that the driver from the second video should have been prosecuted (i.e. not given just the Driver Awareness option).
The only mitigating factor I can see is that the driver's actions were unintentional (taking the corner too quickly) whereas the cyclist apparently chose, consciously, to 'undertake' the horse. I'm not sure that this mitigation (which, I'll reinforce, is my view of it) is sufficient to warrant the sanctions given.0 -

Good to see the worst offending cyclist in that clip I recall from last year was identified and prosecuted, little surprised more than one were not punished in some form though.================

That car clip is horrific. Are we sure Prince Philip wasn't driving?0

At early age of 25, I came to terms with the fact that life is truly unfair and not all justice isn't "just."
I can't really see the proportion being balanced between that triathlete and the driver who mowed over two horses and their riders.
That happened to bringing justice for Madeline? Khasshogi? Skripal?
Tony Blair and his obsession of WMD?
Shoreham disaster Hunter pilot Andrew Hill?
What about that guy who was hiding in Georgia to avoid prosecution for speedboat date killing?
Oh, the B word...
Heck, look what happened to Jesus.
Ok, I blew it out of proportion. Too much coffee this morning.0 -

That a completely just and fair society is impossible, therefore we should give up all attempts to make it as just and fair as we can? That way lies despair, chaos and much more injustice and unfairness.
Regarding justice though, there's a difficult debate to be had about what exactly that is and what the philosophical basis of punishment is. Should we punish people to make the victims and the rest of society feel better (retribution), to deter others from committing the same acts, to reform them so that they don't it again, or (for serious crimes) to prevent them from doing it again by keeping them locked away? Or some vauge and woolly combination of some or all of these things?0 -

Ah come on, people do enough generalising when it comes to cycling; let's not have it from each other!Ben
