Why there is no drain hole in BB ?
BB bearings stopped rotating after two months,
and i've just checked, main pivot bearings are f^$£ed too.... water inside (there is a hole connecting that cylinder with seat tube.
(dropper post is exposed to excessive moisture as well i presume)
Whose idea is this ??

Rubbish bottom bracket seals if water has got in, if you don't have a dropper post surely there should be like a rubber bung or something to fill the hole?
what is that inside the pivot grease? must be rubbish to turn that colour. I've stopped using shop bought bike grease and use some mobil xhp 222 grease this seems to last longer.0 -
it's not from BB seals (normal GXP cups with bearings), water gets inside thru seattube and internal cable ports.... gromets etc. stop a lot, but not everything (not during cleaning)
and once it gets there... it won't leave alone...
(that's why companies started drilling BBs)
what's that inside that hole/cylinder (main pivot bearings) ? it's just mud (that liquid could be grease/oil - i've sprayed it before removing bearing)0 -
Funny how so many like to malign Carrera bikes but both my Carrera frames had BB drain holes.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I'll have to have a look at my recent hardtail build, I don't think there is a drain hole on my bird zero frame and wasn't one on a trek frame I've got here from 2013 either.
Is it a common thing to do?0 -
Transition answered me, i can drill small hole in the centre of the tube, it won't void my warranty.
holes are quite common for at least last 5 years ?0 -

interesting checked my bird zero frame and cant see any drain holes for the bottom bracket. I'm due a new one soon anyway using a shimano xt bb that's been on 3 bikes so far. thinking of splashing out on a hope one but uberbike are now doing them for 32 quid with skf bearings.0
