This questionnaire is for the purpose of an International Baccalaureate Design and Technology Internal Assessment. This paper will analyze the effect of devices designed to enhance the safety of cyclists on the road. This questionnaire is designed for road cyclists/commuters. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 1448235@fcpsschools.net.

I am a senior in high school and am doing a paper on cycling safety. I race road, cyclo-cross, and triathlons as well as working at my local bike shop. I am dedicated to the sport and love all its aspects. However, as I live in an area with extremely busy roads and a large number of commuters, cycling fatalities and accidents are far too common. I hope this questionnaire will help advance cycling safety for all cyclists. I would be grateful if you participate in this survey and share it with all your cycling friends.

*Update* I am in need of at least 100 survey results. Please share this with all your cycling friends to help me reach my goal. Thanks to everyone who has participated so far.

    Here's the email I sent.

I’ve just completed your survey, and i’m really sorry to see that
you’ve attempted to find what what makes cyclists safe (or feel safe) while
only asking what cyclists can do to keep themselves safe.

The basic answer, is, really, a cyclist can do very little to keep
themselves safe. The only real answer is Infrastructure – Safe,
Segregated Infrastructure, the way the dutch do it.

Everything else is preparing for war, and no matter what level of
bullet proof armour may be worn, people die in war.
Separating the two modes of transport removes the need for the war in
    the first place.
Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.
    Bike 1 (Broken) - Bike 2(Borked) - Bike 3(broken spokes) - Bike 4( Needs Work) - Bike 5 (in bits) - Bike 6* ...
