As we've done in the past, anyone else interested in a bit of competition in the TDZ? Finished stage 3 last night.

Stage 2 (A) - 52:52
Stage 3 (A) - 57.08

Total - 2:31:08

Anyone else doing it?

Hoping there is a lanterne rouge award:

    Stage 1 (B) - 51m
    Stage 2 (A) - 1h 12m
    Stage 3 (A) - 1h 22m
    Stage 4 (A) - 1h 20m
    Stage 5 (A) - 1h 52m
    Stage 6 (A) - 2h 12m
    Stage 7 (A) - 2h 34m

Caveat - A year ago I was 14 stone heavier than I am now, no way I could have done these then, let alone a few months backs. Now levelling off my weight loss and working to building up so fitness.

    Awesome work. Nicely done.

I am temporarily zwiftless, so didn't get a chance to do this one.

I really enjoyed the whole thing and definitely noticed some progression from the start to the end. Part in getting a sense of the tactics, but probably more from my fitness coming on as a result. Bit annoyed now by the one B ride but in my defence I was bloody ill at the time.

I appreciate this may have been covered in other threads but, Do you calibrate your turbos somehow? So it's some kind of 'level' playing field?

Just asking out of curiosity, I'm way too slow to race anyone.

Smart trainers and power meters really are the only way to 'race' anyone on zwift. Obviously, these can be gamed as well, but it's more 'realistic' using one of those. I use the power meter on my bike cos I ride with it outdoors, so makes no sense to use a different power source, which may not be accurate, indoors

Stage 7 can f*** right off. That climb might only be half the distance of the Alpe but it somehow feels worse - and doing it twice can get in the sea

I calibrate my kickr every week or two, if I know i'm going to be doing a race I would normally also calibrate it the day before (after a ride when its warmed up). I never win races but its good to know my figures are constant with what I can do.

Having said that has anyone had any trouble using the Zwift app to calibrate turbos? I always use the Wahoo app but thought it would be easier using the Zwift app the other day, I recon it was over reading by 15w. Used the Wahoo app for the next ride and it felt back to normal.
  • Also on a Kickr generation 2, I calibrate it every couple of weeks once warmed using the Zwift spin down test. Power readings are accurate and my weight is regularly updated usin my Withings body+ scales. I'm an A cat but definitely not a race winner, just enjoying the challenge and keeping the fitness up over winter.

I use a power meter, so no calibration needed.

For those who have a turbo with estimated power, as long as it is consistent, that makes it as level as it needs to be.
