Hi all,

I am doing the above in Sept this year and only have a road bike - BMC team Machine (ALR), with Mavic Ksyrium SLR wheels.

The “off road” sections are tame/toe paths so gravel bikes are recommended.

I don’t have the funds for a new gravel bike so what tyre could I fit on my BMC that could tackle a slightly muddy section?

Thanks

tyre clearance is the issue. your BMC is a road bike. You cant fit CX tyres to it as they wont clear. You can ride a road bike off road though just dont expect too much.

Good luck you may need it. Oh pack a good number of tubes.

I've seen people doing it on road bikes but it can be extremely muddy and slippy in the forest. The tow path isn't so bad.

Don't they offer hire bikes any longer ?
