Good Evening,

I am looking for some advice on getting the right kit to spec my current mtb out so I can use it for a trip in Mongolia. Currently im looking at tyres, specifically something that can handle poor roads and tracks, light and fairly puncture resistant, can anyone make any recommendations? The bike is a Whyte 605 2017 model;

    Convert to tubeless and buy some decent folding tyres.

    For the riding you mention look for tyres with low rolling resistance but a decent amount of grip. Something like a Specialized Fast Trak or Renegade or the Schwalbe Smart Sam.

    Something robust like a Vittoria gato tnt tyre. I have no idea about tyre availability on Mongolia but I would pack plugs if running a tubeless setup and a few tubes. Probably worth taking a spare chain unless you know there s hood shops there carrying the spares you may need.
