Hi Guy's, looking for a bit of information if any one can help, wanting to fit a 11-32 Ultegra cassette to a new wheel set that I have purchased, the cranks are 52-36 and a 11-28 cassette fitted at the moment, so how many links will I need in a new chain to make this work?

Thanks in advance.

    Shimano DM-RD0003-0-ENG.pdf
Assemble with sprocket max 28T or more
With the chain put on both the largest sprocket and the
largest chainring, add 2 links to the “minimum number of
    links that can be connected".

Note, the above is without threading the chain through the RD, you could try adding 2 links to your existing chain first, to see if that gives you the correct length then if you want to fit a new chain, use that as a guide to cut the new chain.

  • Thanks for that, will give that a go when I pick up the cassette.

Depends if you put the old chain on using small small or not. If you did you won’t need any. If you did and that doesn’t work you may have the wrong mech for 32 teeth.

You will need a chain 1" or one full link longer. Each tooth adds 1/4" to chain wrap.
