ive got a bag of sram 11 speed quick links, i have no idea where from, probably a late night foray into amzonprime land.
Ive never used a quick link and only ever buy DuraAce chains. do SRAM quick links work? Presumably width and length need to be the same?
And finally why????? my most recent shimano chains have come with quick links which i also kept since i have a pot of 11 speed pins.
Wheres Bungle when you need him.

I much prefer the Wipperman Connex stainless steel links.
You can use them again and again and again. Much easier to extract - by hand.
I no longer put degreaser on the transmission in situ*, preferring to take the chain off, dis-assemble the sprockets, jockey wheels etc and so, I bath the lot in petrol.
*I hope this will prolong the life of bearings.

Im an over cleaner of my transmission and am horrified at how quickly decent degreaser screws up hub and freehub body bearings. Maybe i should embrace the quicklink.0 -

I have just tried to fit a new Shimano R7000 chain using the supplied quicklink, but failed completely.
I used these Park Master Link Pliers https://www.wiggle.co.uk/park-tool-master-link-pliers-mlp-12/, but could not get the link to close. Is this the wrong tool for the job?0 -

Once you have it lined up, use the force of the pedal with one hand on your brake to 'click' it in place.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Thanks for the replies. It felt like I was putting a lot of pressure on, but it wouldn't shift. I've used KMC links with no issues, so I was wondering if the Shimano Quicklink is trickier in some way.0

I found it harder than a KMC one but still did it by both wheels on the ground and stand on the pedal to get it to engage.0

Thanks to Pinno and Webbo as their advice was spot on.
I went to fit the quicklink again today and still had no success using the Park Tool, but with force from the pedal it clicked in straightaway.
** And as some people may have already realised, the basic problem was that I was not using the Park Tool correctly.0
