Wider Tyres for 2018 Specialized Roubaix

Looking for some advice.
I'm currently running Shwalbe Durano Double Defence tyres, size 28-622 (700x28C), which I love for their puncture protection.

But, I'm thinking maybe a wider tyre will make my Roubaix (even) more comfortable to ride.

Unfortunately the Durano DD's are the widest available.

So, for my upgrade I'm thinking of:
- Schwalbe Marathon Plus (I know not strictly a Road Tyre, more a Tour/Commuter tyre but this is primarily for Winter riding)
- Continental Gatorskin 700x32C

My Roubaix has DT Swiss R470db Rims, which have the following profile: width: 24 mm; inner width: 20 mm; profile height: 23 mm.

Will the 32 width tyres fit?

What do you think of the above tyre suggestions? Any other suggestions? Puncture protection is more important to me than rolling resistance.

  • If you have clearance, I'd put 700x32 Conti 4 Seasons on the shortlist, which shouldn't be more than ~33mm wide (my 28s are ~29mm wide iirc).

Spesh Roubaix Pro in the 30/32 size are an excellent all season tyre.

Can recommend these. I ride mine on a lot of canal paths. Plenty of small nicks but have held up really well over two winters. Rear smoothed off a bit in centre but what tyre doesn’t. Lots of good reviews on them.

The Marathon Plus are a different tyre altogether than the Gatorskin or 4 Season and a load more weight to boot.
The Gatorskin TPI is 180 the 4 Season is 3x110 as is the Conti 4000 which are both the same.
