That is just not true in the context of wages vs inflation.

We could go back and look at the 1970s for example but how relevant is that?
Let's go back to your original statement that wages are stagnant. Given that wage increases are currently around 6%, how true do you think your statement is?

If inflation were 10 percent for 3 years, but in the last year you got a 15 percent pay rise after 2 years of no pay rise, would you be ecstatic, or merely relieved?

Yeah, again this has been answered several times, you're pretending to be dense again. Have a good one Stevo.

You know you were wrong, so fine for you you back out of this one.

It's pretty obvious that it is an issue that requires a long term trend and that point data is useless for proving anything. Going back 50 years makes far more sense than picking any individual point in time, ideally you want the real terms wage growth to be diverging from the inflation at a steady rate.

But the ONS data is not what's happening now. It's what was happening in January to March. We're now nearly in June. Surely it's too early to say™? January to March is firmly in the spilt milk category.

I am getting definition of homelessness, or method of estimating homelessness, is different in different countries vibes from that plot. Where is Tim Harford when you need him...

Don't forget, according to Suella, homelessness is a 'lifestyle choice', so this is actually a success story. More people are simply choosing to live on the streets, another thumbs up for the Tory party 👍

It's called "Wild living" I think.

Why? Because they have different rates? You'd expect the Nordic countries to be lower - Norway just builds homeless people houses to live in. Anyone who has visited London regularly over the last 10 years can't fail to have seen the change.

This is the most cake stop response possible. 10/10.

Not just London, any city. Tents in the high street have become commonplace.

Sounds like a common response to stuff that I post...

Good attempt by the centre leftie tag team, unfortunately Pango has already conceded by flouncing 🙂

I apologise for critical thinking.
There is no doubt that both the way something is measured (e.g. government statistics in UK, voluntary organisations in the US) and the overall definitions differ between countries.

He's already conceded so job done 😉 But it's an attitude some could do with acquiring.

It’s so reflexive. I mean, you could also actually read the article rather than getting upset with the chart, which is the cake stop equivalent of the only reading the headline.
A lot of your beef is covered in the article.

So you are annoyed at me for being curious how something is measured before drawing any conclusions?

Its great how we turn into a competition with the USA, rather than saying it's just an issue which needs to be solved.
1 -
It's just FT clickbait. The number of people sleeping on the streets in the UK is much lower than the US and a number of other countries, but the UK has a lot of people living in temporary accommodation. I'm assuming, for convenience, the FT does not consider trailer parks as temporary accommodation.
Anyway, then there's stuff about not building enough homes and I got bored.

Nope. There are more interesting ways to spend time.
Then again, I’ve not posted on the subject either.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
