Totally, AND she's from Norwich, so doubly good.
Love the banoffee breakfast oats recipe she demo'd a while back, well worth trying.
I make the oats fairly regularly, only miss the coffee off and use strawberries rather than banana.kiteloopy wrote:same, sad to see her go. Her appointment was what the channel needed, diversity.
In regards to the others, Ollie is quickly becoming my favourite presenter. Matt moving to other things is proving quite entertaining.
Ollie is very good. His stuff on Cycling Weekly was also pretty good.0 -
Seems Emma is not gone for good - she will still make the odd guest appearance now and then.0

In reality, I'd be surprised if it's more than 4 times a year, being that she'll have a new full time job, and of course lives in Switzerland.
I can't see the likes of Rowsell being good on camera (as I don't recall her being that natural when punditting at the velodrome) , but think the likes of Dani King, and Becky James specifically, would be good choices. Becky is baking now, but maybe Dani might consider it.
Gcn did have another woman on the show for a few shows a couple of years back. I forget her name, but iirc, she was an earlier than expected retired pro.
She didn't come across naturally in front of the camera like the Pooley did though.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Was it Molly Weaver? I've seen her do talks before and she was a natural public speaker but I appreciate that presenting in front of a camera is quite a different skill.0 -

are you not thinking of Jessie Walker instead ? used to appear with Lucy Martin on alot of those HIIT videos GCN do.
as Molly has had a tough couple of years, I cant imagine she'd have chosen to pop up on a youtube channel focussed on cycling much of late0 -

GCN dropping Ask GCN Anything? What a very odd decision..............0

Apart from the North Coast 500 one, haven’t watched it in ages, can’t stand the new presenters. Emma, Dan and Si were good, now Emma has gone it’s poor, the two new ones are wooden.
The Sigma Sports cafe ride videos Mat Stephens does are good.0 -
Juliet Elliot had an Instagram post of her in GCN kit the other day...... She is an Assos sponsored rider though, so maybe thats why.0

Opie is OK in small doses but the lisping James whateverhisnameis is just way too annoying. Simon and Dan the best by miles, no comparison.
As for content, blimey they are scraping the barrel big time trying to come up with items. I used to watch most of the videos in the past but nowadays I'm an occasional viewer as just too many trivial and frankly stupid clips. EG being "more pro" by taking off vest whilst riding. FFS.0 -
Some of the more “filler” content is... not great, but they’re really starting to shine when they do longer features/rides, or things like looking at the Wheels Up/Knives Down video they did the other week. The general production values have really stepped up.0

Ask the pros makes me chuckle . A lot of the content is just infomercial nonsense thou. I dip in. Hefty 15 million views a month. Plus paid content. They are doing ok."If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

I assume it's the business model of a YT channel. Content for content's sake to harvest 'views' (i suppose switching off after 1min realising it's utter bilge still counts?).
They still do some good stuff, NC500 was a high water mark, but it just gets lost in the tidal wave of rubbish they spew out now.0 -
GCN and other major Youtube channels are beholden by their sponsors to provide daily content.
There's no way you can think of 365 interesting videos to produce each year, hence so much repetition, infomercials or boring topics.
Unfortunately in the world of Youtube quantity trumps quality.
Like others I used to watch the majority of their output but now I only rarely watch their videos.0 -
Jon Cannings is worth watching, he really knows his stuff. GCN Tech Clinic is always worth a watch.
Really enjoyed watching him build the commuter bike from the old Peugeot frame as well.
Agree that some of the content isn't great though.0
