  • Made mistake of buying a Carbon seat post from eBay (from China). Cracked as soon as I did first turn to tighten, never again

A few months ago I went to the national cycle museum and these type of seats were common on the Victorian bikes they had on show.
Maybe the seller is very very old

If you want a sprung saddle (I don't, but many sit-up-and-beg commuters might) that looks like a pretty neat solution. Nice thing is that it should be adjustable for spinginess according to how it is mounted.

Useful for anyone who has cut their seatpost too short I guess

The way it's set up in the photos gives about 1mm of springiness before the bolts in the seatpost/saddle hit each other

I wouldn't be too concerned about set up in the photos. Bottom right image in the third picture the seatpost is facing backwards.

after spending the past week hammering my backside off road on rock hard lumpy tracks around Corrallejo I would be prepared to give this gadget a chance. If it is made of good quality springy steel( unlikely I guess) it might work; but perhaps there is a reason Brooks saddles have coil springs.

I'd worry a little about fatigue and the device eventually snapping... Hope they've done their engineering maths and/or tests on that one!
  • Hopefully your local A&E will be adept at retrieving part of it from your buttock/anus when the thing lets go. :D

Suspension seatposts have been sold by reputable, and well known, brands for years (I have a USE one laying around in my garage), so why the need for that?

I wouldn't buy a carbon anything from eBay, and that includes second hand known brand parts. Too risky
