Tyre Sizing

I currently have a set of Marathon Plus 25s on my commuter (yes, I value lack of punctures over enjoyment). Unfortunately, the clearance on my RT-58 is non-existent and therefore I do not have mudguards fitted. I am tempted by some of the flinger ones but even think they would be tight.
My commute is to Manchester along terrible roads and canal paths so don’t want to go back to 23s. Would a 25 in a Durano Plus for example provide greater clearance? The Marathon’s seems to be quite a tall tyre but nowhere seems to compare the 25 versions of tyres for fitted size?
Any help/recommendations appreciated as it’s chuffing wet up here at the moment!

If you're willing to spend a few quid then these are available:

Great wet grip and also tough, Also true to size and should fit under the guards.
If you're not willing to buy them new then I've got a pair which have done about 500km that I'd be willing to sell for a reasonable price.0
