Basically they had a normal bike shop which did sell a lot of their own bikes but also Specialized etc and then the workshop/factory place which was a mile or two away and they are shutting the shop but doing some limited retail from the workshop.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

That’s a nicely phrased blog. I wish them all the best.0

Good luck to them. The showroom model of bicycle retail is a dead. The repair workshop model can work.
The model canyon use direct to customer for bikes I think is the way forward.the sad truth is with the space needed for bicycle retail, the staff, and all the overheads there is a very poor to no return on bikes.
Its not much better on the web but at least you don't have to unpack them which take a long time and display them. Me and business partner are going to try the workshop only model out in Cambridge.
All the shops that I visited that have sucessfull workshops The retail side does not seem to add profit to there business. That's the feeling I get anyway. As Mercian says you might as well strip out all the activities that only add turnover and stick to what makes profithttp://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0 -

their customer service and knowledge on technical issues first class.
i once wanted just a cone, lock nut and nine bearings, no problem, arrived next day.
good luck to them in their new venture.
