struggled to get even one side onto the rim?

WTB Scraper rims (40mm) with 2.8 nobby nics. 3 evenings I've tried and come away with nothing to show for it but destroyed thumbs and a youtube history of people fitting tyres by just looking at them.

Get one side on with thumbs and a lot of swearing. other side get so far and then just watch the other end of it keep popping off as you work your way round. bead in the middle yep.. fairy liquid yep..

I'm going to take them to my local bike jumble and set it up as a tough tyre challenge!

There is a knack to fitting some tyres to certain rim configurations, mate had a flat at Llandegla and had to ask the mechanics their for assistance and the first guy struggled but the second guy made it look easy. He did with his hands what several guys and numerous tyre levers failed to do. Tubeless ready rims from memory.
Too many bikes according to Mrs O.
