Just bought my first gravel bike, I've got a pair of SPDs I've never used, Shimano PD-M520... want to use these on it to start with. Question is I haven't a clue what shoes or cleats I need? Preferably cheap as chips but obviously not absolute dog shite?
Any ideas?

The cleats come with the pedals... as for shoes, I find the basic Shimano XC 31 or similar to be extremely good. With Shimano, always go one size up, so if you are 43, order 44left the forum March 20230 -

I’ve found these work well, and are as tough / hardwearing as nails.
Fit these cleats.

You’ll be good to go. The multi release cleats make it easier to get your foot out of the pedals.0 -
I've had two iterations of these, and have found them very comfortable. They may be a little above budget, but not exactly high-end:

I think mine are the 2016 version, but they haven't changed that much. I recently had mine taken from triathlon transition by mistake, and the 5 days I thought I had lost them were the worst days of my life!
Okay..not really, but I was a bit miffed.0 -
Cheers all. I'll get those cleats, can't find the Shimano in stock in Halfords at the minute0
