SRAM Apex 1x with Rival Rear Derailleur
Hello All,
Just building up a bike for my gf, a flat bar road bike with the SRAM SL700 shifters...
It was going to be 11x2 speed with SRAM Rival components but I've just though of going 1X, just wondering whether I could combine a 32 tooth cassette with the SRAM Rival medium cage rear Derailleur and then having the single 1x Apex chainset on the front?
Or is it important to use the APEX ( or other ) derailleur that has a clutch mechanism in for chain tension?
Cheers!

I ran a normal Rival rear deraileur with a superstar narrow-wdie chainring for a bit of cross riding a year or two back and I don't recall the chain coming off, if it did it must have only been occasionally. That said, a 1x mech will be more secure. If you already have the rival mech it can't hurt to try it, you can always change it out for a 1x later if needed.0
