I really fancy this next year, but wondering how bad are the roads from anyone who has done it?
My Eroica bike is currently running 23mm tyres and I can't see it taking much wider (if at all). Having (inadvertently thanks to garmin) done some gravel riding in Belgium on my other bike I'm pretty sure my steel beauty would not cope with the ones I ended up on and unfortunately I really don't need another bike.
Thanks

Most people do it on 23 mm... I did it on 23 and 24.
Roads are not bad at all, except the bits where tractors left big dents when the roads were muddy in winter.

Hmmm 23mm is quite narrow. I've done the long route twice on 25mm tires and you risk blowouts on the rougher sections if you are riding quite fast (which you have to do anyway to get around).BASI Nordic Ski Instructor
