I’m buying a Tacx Vortex today . To use Zwift
Do I need a ant dongle for my existing speed sensor ? Or does the vortex send speed info to the software ?

Do I need cadence sending to the software ?
If so , why ??

Thanks . I’d like to sort it out today .
Cheers

  • If its a smart trainer then no, the trainer should transmit speed/cadence & power via ant+ or Bluetooth. You may need an Ant+ dongle if using a laptop etc.

Edit: try the Bluetooth first maybe no need for the Ant+ dongle.

  • My Cadence sensor isn’t Bluetooth , so I don’t see how the trainer can detect cadence !?

I can confirm that the Vortex does transmit cadence but it estimates it from the way you apply power so sometimes the numbers can be a bit wonky, it also doesn't recognise very low (ie 50) or very high cadences so will give an incorrect number for those
