Does any know if shimano HG500 10 speed cassette is a suitable replacement for a HG50 10 speed?

It certainly is. HG500 is Deore, as was HG50.

Yeah, quite surprised how well it shifts but I have an xtr rear derailleur.

Was going to buy a black sunrace mx8 cassette but 27.50 I paid for the hg500 was a no brainer at the time of buying.

So currently running Shimano hg50 10 speed 11-36 so recently ordered a Shimano hg500 10 speed 11-34 but on the front of the box it states that it’s for road so my question is will it fit?
  • There are 2 versions of the HG500 cassette on the market atm,
1st is the road version, the Tiagra HG500 - 11-34t(other options are available)
2nd is the MTB version, the Deore HG500 - 11-42t

It appears you have purchased the the road version
