Sora RD capacity
I've put a 32 tooth cassette on the Mrs winter bike that has an older 9 speed sora rear derailleur, I haven't measured it but it looks like a medium cage, but I've wound the B-screw all the way in and there still sin't enough clearance for the 32 tooth cog which seems odd.
I know it's hard to say, but is it likely an issue with the derailleur and I need a new one (only about £22) or could there be a problem with the mech hanger?

It's a case of trial and error... sometimes you can exceed the RD capacity, sometimes you can't. If it works on a stand, it probably works on the roadleft the forum March 20230

I did exactly this when setting up my old Allez for touring.
Ended up getting a long cage (Alvio I think) RD £20-25 from memory. Also had to lay my hands on a 1" B screw from the LBS to get it to shift all the way up and down but, when done, it worked a treat.Wilier Izoard XP0 -
Thanks both, hadn't thought of trying a longer B-screw, will pop into the shop at lunch time and see if they have anything and give that a go first. If it doesn't work I'll replace the derailleur.
