Generally people say specialized bikes are not great value but I'm a big fan of the brand, mind you I have never bought a new one.

This model is in the sales, so depending on the size you require, can be got from £750 (for xs) see

  • A friend bought one and it was a decent bike. Personally, I don't get on with 29" wheels but it's horses for courses.
I've had 4 Rockhoppers in my life and my current HT is a Stumpjumper.

Spesh aren't as good value compared to some bikes, but still make good bikes. They seem to have downgraded some specs to meet their price points.

Other bikes worth considering are Vitus (CRC), Boardman (Halfords) and maybe Calibre (Go Outdoors).

With a British Cycling membership you can get 10% off at CRC and Halfords.
