Winter disc wheels

Hi all
My mavic aksium disc wheels have died today,
Need a set for winter for my planet x london road.
Nice and cheap 150 or so.
Any advise onwhat to buy , 2nd hand would be ok ,

When you say ‘died’, what do you mean? If it’s just the bearings, they’re readily available and a reasonably simple job to do. That said, if it’s either the hub or rim, probably best to bin them - if you were happy with the Aksiums before they ‘died’, just buy another pair.Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

I use the bike for my ride to work and back throught the winter so it takes some hammer.

A rebuild should not cost £100 if it's just spokes.

Seems as though they are that rusted in they will struggle to be removed and all the rest of the spokes are the same so will be hard/time consuming to repair , apparently !!! .thecycleclinic wrote:A rebuild should not cost £100 if it's just spokes.

Well I would find a competent wheel builder and ask them to pair a set of DT Swiss r470 rims to Shimano rs505 hubs with stainless steel spokes. These will be fairly cheap, more than £150 but if built right would do silly miles so long as you maintain the hubs.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
