There's one on there that ascends 32m. I cycle up at least three that are more notable every evening. It is a fairly hopeless list, frankly.0
-
Chatted to a couple earlier this year, just taken up cycling and were driving around the UK with their bikes, to then ride all the the Top 100.
The Worlds gone mad.
Good shout for number 2 though.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0 -
No1 is brilliant. Did it a couple of years ago at the end of December when it was erm freezing. The decent the other side was hairy. Cold potentially ice and then cattle grids at 30+ mph. Gulp, pray and then back up to go down the other way. The follies of youth.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

I would add the climb from Fort Augustus... 8.5km, 392m (although much of it is steeper). Some others around Aberdeenshire which I would include possibly as well, given some of the pimples in the South East which warrant inclusion.0 -

Same climb? The other side is the A road, no cattle grids... I looked on Strava and you haven't done it... it's the new Horseshoe you did

Score for hardness, but follow my template and give them a number, so that we can see the list growing, hopefully to 100.left the forum March 20230 -
Lowther Hill https://www.climbbybike.com/climb.asp?C ... ainID=3970

Unless every hill listed has been ridden by all participants in this post, how can we possibly rank them all?================

2016 Voodoo Wazoo0 -

We are not ranking them... we are putting them down in numerical order... ranking is subjective... just like Warren's...
Numerical order seems to be the issue... :roll:left the forum March 20230 -
Let's do it differently... let's start from 201, since Warren's books cover 200 of them
201) The old Horseshoe pass 1.5 km at 13% 10/10
202) New Road from Draycott 2.0 km at 10.5% 9/10
203) Sudeley Hill from Winchcombe 2.5 km at 8.5% 7/10left the forum March 20230 -
204) Tak Me Doon from Kilsyth. Short but kicks you so hard, so many times. 8/10.
4.3km @ 6.1%, 14% max. apparently, although my Garmin, Strava, and legs registered 18%.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
205) Wolfcleugh Common between Rookhope and Allenheads, Durham Dales. A long and steady drag in remote, wild countryside. Some lovely new tarmac for the last couple of miles. An omission both from the two top hundred books and his North East specific book.0
-
206) Corney Fell, Cumbria, 7/10 4.3 miles, 5%, 1180 feet.0
-
It's a pimple in the south east, but I think its the hardest pimple... Bignor Hill in Sussex
https://strava.app.link/9yAm01RT4P
I don't think it's in either of the 100 books?0 -

Tanhurst Lane in the surrey Hills (part of the Leith hill area). peaks at around 19% in several noticeable steps.
Ranmore road (leading up to the church is like a 1% harder version of Combe lane. the hairpin is notoriously slightly longer and steeper than the Combe one and the road even more worn than Combe, making it a slightly tougher proposition.0 -
207) Climb from Fort Augustus, 8.5km at 4% (393m gain)
https://www.strava.com/segments/723617
Although the stats are deceptive as the first 0.5km of the Strava segment is flat, there's a small descent in the middle and a short flat part in the top third. The hardest bit is 2km long starting from 0.5km, and is a proper staircase climb with a series of pitches at around 20%.
It's also the main climb on the Etape Loch Ness so quite a lot of people have ridden it.0 -
The one where I live, 350m at 7%. Absolutely fine unless you have a long ride into the wind in your legs and are starving hungry. More than once I’ve stood at the junction and thought how the hell an I going to get up there.0

BIt too short though... if it was 350 mt at 25% and cobbled, then maybe...left the forum March 20230 -
Cowlow Lane, Combs, Derbyshire.
Cant find it on Strava to get distance and gradient but it is horrible!
Poor surface, steep and narrow - just missing the cobbles for the full effect.0 -
Here's mine:

208) Woolland ascent of Bulbarrow -
1.9 kms, 8% average but goes up in ramps with the steepest pitches touching 25%.0 -

Talla and Lowther are locals for me, both horrid. Talla is one of my favourites though0 -
There's hell of a lot of amazing climbs around Surrey isn't there? Where all the really serious cyclists live, who are really into researching and buying the latest and lightest cycling hardware available. Like that nasty 3% one coming out of Guildford.0
-
Scoring though totally subjective and hence pointless. Someones 10/10 might be someone elses 7/10 etc.0
-
Bazillions of them in the Yorkshire Dales. Whenever I see that list I'm always surprised at how few are in the Dales.
I'd suggest, to start, The Fleak (also known as Fleak Moss), Park Rash, Coal Road, Grinton Moor, Lamps Moss, and Lofthouse (Trapping Hill).
Of course Buttertubs and Fleet Moss have opposite sides, which have their own charms/horrors.0 -
I like this one. It's not the steepest or longest by a long way but, if you put your back into it you'll crack a sweat plus the view from the top is outstanding
209) Whiteways hill, Dorset 2.1 km long, 6% average 120 m gain
