Dented seat tube, meant to be that way?

Is this dent meant to be on the frame? It looks nice and central but not seen anything like this before.

Cube LTD 29er, couldn't find any pics of that section of the frame online.

Hmm it looks too perfect to be the result of an accident.

Look at photo 4 ebay item 223130944380, is it the same 'dent'

Have you asked the seller about this
  • Nice one, seems like a factory thing they have done.

That bike seems pretty cheap at £375 :O

    The question would be why?

Looks like it is to limit seat post insertion. No idea why that might be.

Seems odd, but intentional so I wouldn't worry.

Bit of extra clearance for the tyre maybe.

Could be, the stays do look short.

  • Good to know.

The stays are very short on this bike.

That was my initial guess but it should be be higher up for that.

Maybe gives clearance for the gear cable?

Dunno, can't see a reason for it.

Definitely tyre clearance, why would it need to be higher up!?

If you look at a photo of a complete bike, the position of the dent doesn't match the curvature of the wheel. It's about 2" below what would be the closest point of the tyre to the frame.

    I'd email Cube :)

    I blame Wiggle obviously.....

Maybe it’s to stiffen the tube or change it’s characteristics in some other way.
