Hello,
Just changed from DT Swiss to Mavic tubeless wheels. The wheels come with Mavic quick release but I prefer through axles. The DT through axles seem to be a perfect fit but the Mavic instructions predictably state that only Mavic should be used. Any reason to not use the DT through axles?

Best wishes,
Ian

  • The true axle is frame/fork specific not wheel brand specific. the thread pitch, length varies from frame to frame for a 142x12mm axle.

  • Thanks for the info cycleclinic. It was however a dumb question on my part. The DT fittings are in fact called skewers. They have the traditional quick release nut on one end and a lever to turn clockwise or anti to tighten or loosen at the other.

    Thanks and best wishes,

I use a 12mm DT Swiss on the rear and 20mm RockShox up front with my Mavic Crossmax ST wheelset and neither myself or the wheels have come to any harm.

Brands just like you to use their stuff ;)
