Best Android smart turbo app

I've currently got an Elite Crono fluid elastogel trainer but been looking around at smart turbo trainers. Having video of a route and some riders to compete against seems a really cool idea aand is sure to boost my training. The actual turbo trainer isn't really my problem yet... it's the app that I'm confused about. So many are Windows, Mac or Apple-specific with so few running on Andorid.

I have an Android phone, Android tablet, a TV in my 'gym' and a Chromecast. I'm looking for a realistic video trainer that allows me connectivity between them without the need of any Windows or Apple products. Any recommendations please?

I've seen Rouvy and this seems to fit but without a trainer, I can't try it! Is it good on Android? Once I know which software I'll use, I'll consider the smart trainer to fit.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give!

Zwift is now available as a Beta on Android, it's not photo realistic but is by far the most social one around.
  • Thanks for the suggestion but Zwift aren't accepting any more Android registrations at the moment.

I'm a Rouvy user with my Android phone and works perfectly to connect up ANT+ or BLE. My Samsung is ANT+ and it is just as simple as to setup the bike on the turbo, twist the phone onto a garmin mount and start a workout. Your devices are preset to start working instantly without any faff.
All without hooking up a laptop and other bits and pieces .
I was just getting into equipment and software overload just to ride on the turbo with Zwift but I do like an app to run a workout and display power and HR targets. Rouvy does the job with Android.
I was also getting peed off with Zwifters and Zwift Power attitudes especially in the racing, so now I can ride a Sufferfest or Alpine route in solitary heaven. Last thing I need is social interraction when training, I have decided.
  • Thanks JGSI. There's no reason why it couldn't be cast to a TV using chromecast is there?

Out of interest, what turbo trainer do you use? My phone only has BLE so I'll need to consider that when choosing the trainer. Getting power data would be good when I get it set up fully. At the moment I only have hr, cadence and speed.

A MUIN with the ANT+ / BLE box. I actually use it because it is super quiet as I use my power meter to connect to the app. I do believe Rouvy gives you the full control when you attach one of those expensive control trainers for climbing.
If your Android device casts, then yes , you' should get it on the TV.
  • Thanks again. I'm going to try Rouvy with the Crono and my Garmin sensors and see how I get on. I won't get all of the automatic resistance stuff but it looks like you get video and a virtual rider plus all of the information on the TV. If it works, I think this will be fine for now, it's another level from what I currently have and it will have been a very cheap upgrade!
