Use of disc brakes

I currently have a road bike with brake blocks and a cyclocross bike which I've just built with hydraulic discs.
I'm looking for some guidance. I was surprised to see in the TDF bikes with disc brakes. I thought they were banned. Can disc brakes now be used bike competitions and triathlons?
I've not used the cyclocross bike for any long rides. Would there be any significant issues to me selling my road bike and only having a cyclocross bike? I got the cx bike just to do cx compete, but wonder if I can get away with just one bike or if I missing something?
Cheers

Assuming you are competing in the UK, discs are now legal for all BC sanctioned road race events. Same for CX. Some Euro federations still do not accept discs, but they are now fine in the UK.0

Thank you.
So I don't need 2 bikes that are basically the same!
The shame is when I bought my road bike I nearly bought one with disks, but didn't as they weren't allowed to be used in events.
Hey ho, that's life.
Anyone fancy Trek Domane?0 -
CX races are often on mud so you'd run low press and knobbly tyres and need lower gears too. So a lot different to the road. If you've another set of wheels or at least tyres and the gearing works for you then there's no real issue.
You can use discs for triathlon.0
