Derailleur options?

Hi guys
New to cyclocross and clipless peddles too and managed to mangle my derailleur. It's a Shimano rival 1, type 2.1 - 11 speed. Do I have to replace it with the same one or are there cheaper options that would be compatible that are as good?
11-36T with a 42T up front although thinking of moving to a 38T ring.
Cheers and apologies if a stupid question!

Rival 1 is made by sram. Therefore not shimano.
You need an sram RD.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0 -
New SRAM Rival 1 rear derailleur will set you back close to £90.

If that's too much to swallow then just get an SRAM Apex 1. Will do the same job for less money (abt £55 on offer at Tredz)
