Anyone else riding this at the weekend?

I'm riding it with a friend and it's sort of at the limit of what we usually ride. Distance (27m) should be okay but 5100ft of (steep) climbing is a lot and the route covers a lot of the more traditional feaures that I'm less familiar with.

My mate is jet lagged and I'm recovering from illness, so nowhere as prepared as we'd like to be.

I've done Afan recently but think this might be a bit harder.

Just hope we get round it ok.

That sounds like a tough proposition for someone with jet lag and someone recovering from illness. Illness can take a lot out of a person and in addition, you will have lost some fitness while actually ill and not doing anything. It depends upon the illness of course, but it was bad enough for you to "be recovering" from it. I'm not having a go in any way, but take it steady!

Maybe it would be sensible to have a have a bail-out plan? In other words have a good look at the route and have a few exit routes at key points.

Also, don't forget that the accident rate increases the more tired you are. :(

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I'm certainly not treating it as a race. It's just the amount of climbing and it's quite technical in some places as it takes in some of the more traditional elements. It's 5000ft of climbing and a day at Afan was 3500 and that was hard enough.

I went out on Tuesday for a local 10m test ride and just found it a bit energy sapping, particulalry on the hills.

I'll just take it easy and enjoy the view! Be glad to get round.
