Sale bikes - Defy Advance 1 or Ribble Gran Fondo Disc?

Currently have a triban 520 flat bar and am now looking to pick up an endurance bike in the current sales.
Kinda got it narrowed down to between a gain advanced defy 1 : https://www.rutlandcycling.com/bikes/ro ... V0QAvD_BwE
or this ribble gran fondo disc : https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-g ... sc-tiagra/
As you can see theres almost £500 of a difference, could someone please tell me if the Giant is that much better than the ribble?
Also i am 6'2" with a 34.5" inseem and according to Giant sizes that puts me squarely in a L size while in the Ribble (and most other bikes) size charts i seem to be an XL?
Comfort is probably the main thing for me here as i am and probably always will be dealing with a herniated disc (that cycling has so far actually helped!), i also like the way these bikes look which may be superficial but obviously matters when buying a new bike - i couldnt live with the green paint job of the 2018 giant defy 2 for example.
As always any and all advice welcome - i am loving this forum so far and have been really encouraged by the help i have received so far

You could throw another 500 quid at the Ribble using the bike builder facility and spec some much better wheels and higher tier groupset. Ribble is the better looking of the two hands down IMO.0

Also considering a defy 3 for £1150...0

The defy advanced 2 should also be in the mix - £1348
The bike builder on the Ribble website does not start with the model you have linked to - therefore you would not get £500 of upgrades.
The look of the bike and its attractiveness is very much subjective - however personally I much prefer Shimano 105 or Ultegra to Tiagra.
Can you live without discs? The following bike has an excellent spec without disc brakes:

Thanks dude.
I've just ordered the defy 1.
Thats a lot of money for me, I hope the bike is worth it.
Now, to tell the wife...0 -
Great choice and exactly the 2 bikes I was contemplating 5 months ago. The Defy won, 2400 miles later and all’s good, only thing I have changed are the tyres!0
