Front derailleur issue

My front derailleur when I shift into the top chainring and release the break shifter, the chain immediately drops back down to the small chainring. How do I fix this? Thanks.

    Probably the outer limit screw just needs adjusting a small amount. Alternatively the cable tension is a tiny bit too low.

    adjust cable tension (increase it). It sounds like its way off though so you might find it less frustrating to start from scratch including setting the limits.

    My experience is that if a quick turn of the barrel adjuster doesn't nail it (and it usually will) that a much more satisfactory end result is found by releasing the cable and starting from scratch. This ensures that all the stop parameters are correct and the trim function works as designed, leading to better and consistent shifting with no annoying chain rub.
