Solid tires more likely to deform rims?

Are solid tires more likely to cause deformation of alloy rims when riding on bad roads? I figure pneumatic tires do more to absorb the shocks that will deform alloy rims.

Your reasoning makes sense. More force will be transferred to the rim as less would be absorbed by the tyre, however, whether this extra force would be enough to deform rims is another question0

Not in my experience. Airless tyres ( they’re not truly solid ) have a few quirks but they’re not as bad now as they were when they first appeared a fair few years ago.0
