Creaking

My bottom bracket/crank arms/pedals have developed a creak.
Doesn't creak when i free wheel.
I've taken the pedals off their actual 'pin' that screw into the crank arm and cleaned/degreased them.
I've cleaned the threads.
I've taken the crank off and cleaned the inside of the bracket (did that make sense?)
I've cleaned all washers, seals and anything else i can take off with my fingers.
Greased the threads (not too much)
Tighten everything securely.
Still creaking.

Does this mean that the BB might have dirt in it and is affecting the bearings? The crank doesn't wobble on turning of pedals.
It used to be so quiet and now everyone can hear me.......slight exaggeration.
Thanks
Michael

    Saddle? Seatpost?

If the bearings are on their way out cleaning doesn’t help. What crank and pedals?

You have a press fit BB which are known to creak.... but before you buy a new one, first remove your saddle, seat post and seat post clamp, then thoroughly clean and regrease them. Then see if it still creaks. If it does then it's likely your BB. I wouldn't buy a like for like replacement though, instead I'd go for one from the likes of Wheels MFG, Token Ninja or Hope.

Or ride standing up before messing with the saddle.
  • It’s possibly coming from the wheels.
  • Thanks guys.
I forgot about the seat post and saddle possibility.
SRAM crank and Shimano Saint pedals. Love 'em!
