Bontrager carbon rims discolouring?

Hi all,
Apologies if this is a daft or common question, but some googling time produced zero results.
A couple of years ago, I won a pair of Bontrager Aeolus 3 D3 tubs in a Facebook competition - nice wheels, but only really for best days as running tubs regularly is probably beyond my budget. Anyway, over that time the rims have gradually faded in colour more and more, and now they're an odd-looking, blotchy green colour.
I'm fairly new to cycling and bike ownership - particularly expensive bits and bobs. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to return them to their original black colour? Am I at risk of them falling to pieces like wet paper while riding them?
Thanks in advance!
Andy.

they're carbon fibre aren't they?
to change colour it's most likely the coating, if they only had light use it's unlikely to be uv exposure, aside from manufacturing problem that leaves things like chemical contamination, perhaps from cleaning
unlikely this will have any effect on the underlying epoxy resin/carbon fibre
simplest may be to contact bontrager and see if it's a known issue of if they can identify a causemy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Thanks for the reply - they are indeed carbon fibre. In honesty, I think it might be chemical contamination from cleaning - I'll drop Bonty a line to see if they can advise. Cheers!0

as an aside, just use them all the time. tubs aren't that expensive, they are easy to change, lighter, safer and are nicer to use.
whats the point in having something if its going to sit in a box? may as well sell them and buy some kitchenware.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am
