Hi,

I have a dilemma, tried two bikes at the bike shop, both have similar specs and they were both black - the bike shop guy who was new, put me on a girls bike and then a guys bike, the girls bike (I am a dude) was actually more comfortable and felt better. when he realized his mistake, he said the geometry was not good for a guy - does any one know if it matters?

I have the specs below: first bike is girl, second men - I am 5'6 - thanks:

Rider Height: 5'5" - 5'7" S/52cm / Rider Height: 5'4"-5'7"
Seat Tube Length 460mm 490.0mm
Stand Over Height 757mm 755.0mm
Top Tube Length 525mm 530.0mm
Stack 562mm 539.0mm
Reach 369mm 376.0mm
Head Tube Length 150mm 135.0mm
Head Angle 72° 72.3°
Seat Angle 74.5° 74.0°
Wheel Base 987mm 968.0mm
Chain Stay Length 415mm 405.0mm
Fork Offset 47.5mm 45.0mm
BB Drop 72mm 72.5mm
Stem Length 90mm 90.0mm

  • Don't know the models, one was a Giant, was one a name I never heard of but, had Shimano 105 groupset.

He actually printed out the specs for me.

    Thanks

    Are you still growing?
FFS! Harden up and grow a pair :D
  • Components for both were pretty much the same, alloy, shimano 105 groupset, decent tires.

No, done growing, way done -

I noticed that most of the geometry was exact except for these few and some very little:

    Seat Tube Length 460mm 490.0mm - 30mm
    Stand Over Height 757mm 755.0mm - 2mm
    Top Tube Length 525mm 530.0mm - 5mm
    Stack 562mm 539.0mm - 23mm - this seems substantial
    Reach 369mm 376.0mm - 7 mm
    Head Tube Length 150mm 135.0mm - 15mm
    Head Angle 72° 72.3° - .3mm

Does stack matter that much when it's MM or headtube?

    Thanks
