So I'm about the pull the trigger on my first road bike. I'm a beginner cyclist but I want to buy a bike that will last me a long time. Right now I'm trying to decide between either a Cervelo R2 carbon with rim brakes, or a Cannondale synapse Carbon 105 with disc brakes. The Cervelo is also 105 groupset.. Any reason I should definitely think about Cannondale due to disc brakes? I know brakes can't really be changed later, so I'm wondering if down the road I will regret not getting disc brakes? Any help appreciated..

    Cervelo R2 - £1759 - https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Cervel ... -2018/H2B1
    Carbon Synapse 105 Disc - £1759 - https://gearpursuit.com/road-bikes/cann ... road-bike/

It looks like the synapse has just gone on sale, couldn't find many suppliers of the R2 with stock. Couldn't find any weight information for both bikes. Personally if I were looking at a new bike I'd probably go down the disc brake route - at the end of the day I think it's just personal preference. Also I think the synapse looks nicer ;)

    good luck!

Personally, I'd get discs, especially if you only have one bike (therefore riding it in all weather conditions).

Ditto, if the OP is in fact going to ride it year round in all weathers.
If on the other hand he's a fair weather cyclist, rim brakes may be fine and save a bit of weight.
Both look like pretty decent bikes for the money.

Beyond that, buy the one which fits the best and which you think is better looking
