Hi All,

(I'm hoping this is in the correct forum?)

I have a 2015 SC 5010 and I need a new wheelset I've been looking around and fancy a set of these:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/hope-tech-enduro-pro-4-mtb-wheelset/rp-prod147148

However when I select the options I want for the rear wheel I get "computer says NO"

Options I want for my rear are:

Black
SRAM XD Freehub
142 x 12
27.5"

All goes well until I select the 142 x 12 option then the 27.5" becomes greyed out :?

So can someone help me figure out what combo I need and I'm assuming a adapter or new axle is needed?

Any hep would be ace :D

Many Thanks,
Ian.

if its grey'd out i thought that was out of stock?

Try merlin cycles, had custom built wheels from them before and very good service.

or you could buy the wheel in quick release and just change the axle end caps?

    Hi Pal,

    Thanks for replying.

No I think when its out of stock a red message pops up at the end and tells you.

Even if I get them from Merlin I'd need to know what option or combo I need?

That is my question buddy, If I buy the 135 x 10 can I buy an adapter to convert to 142 x 12 bolt through?

    Cheers,
    Ian.

According to the Hope website the Tech Enduro Pro 4 rear wheel only comes in 135, 148 and 150mm hub widths.

Seems a bit odd as Hope do a 142mm Pro4 rear hub.

UBYK have them in stock for £340.

Have you priced up getting a pair of wheels built?
I have Pro4 hubs with Stan's Arch Mk3 rims and they have been excellent.

Well Merlin has the option to buy a Axle: 135mm QR / 142 x 12mm option for Hope Hoops Pro 4 Wheel so I'm a little confused too :?

You know I haven't looked at wheel builds, but will have a butchers now

    Cheers,
    Ian.

Not actually measured one but are the 142mm option just a 135mm width hub and once you put the 12mm through axle end caps on this makes it up to 142mm?

I've only got pro 2 evos at the minute and these converted easily to 142mm from QR with the 12mm through axle end caps.

I thought pro 4 would be the same?

    You could be right, swod1.
If I get a chance I’ll pop the back wheel off my bike and check...

Just had a quick look and the rear hub does seem to have removable end caps:

Looking on line there are various conversion end caps available including one especially for the XD free hub.

they are definitely interchangeable for sure just not sure what width the hubs actually measure these days with the different axle standards about boost, DH 150mm etc.

might be worth having a look on the hope tech docs on there website.

merlin cycles do have in stock the wheel in black if this is any good to you, they look to come in 135mm QR and include 142x12mm axle end caps

the hubs are already built for 12mm through axles i believe just need the compatible axle end caps on and away you go.

Yeah I was heading towards thinking that Merlin had that combo and it would convert the 135mm QR to a 142x12mm

I'll give them a go and see what happens.

    Cheers,
    Ian.
